The 2008 God of Fire Charity Dinner for Cigar Family Charitable Foundation will be held at Hotel Bel-Air on September 13, 2008.
God of Fire and Prometheus are proud to present Barbara Sinatra with the 2008 God of Fire Woman of the Year Award. In 1986, she established Barbara Sinatra Children's Center (www.sinatracenter.org) and for over 20 years, has dedicated her life to helping abused children. She has been an internationally respected advocate for abused children.
Please join us in presenting the 2008 God of Fire Woman of the Year Award to Barbara Sinatra. The proceeds from the charity auction during the dinner will be donated to Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and Cigar Family Charitable Foundation (CFCF, www.cf-cf.org). CFCF is a non-profit charitable foundation established by the Fuente and Newman families to improve the lives of children in the Dominican Republic. Over $200,000.00 was raised at the 2007 God of Fire Charity Dinner.
In 2007, Gary Sinise (Forest Gump, Apollo 13 and CSI: New York) was awarded with the 2007 God of Fire Man of the Year Award for his charity work for warstricken children in Iraq, Operations Iraqi Children (operationiraqichildren.org). In addition to other distinguished guests, the following Hollywood luminaries have formed a dinner committee to help and support children in need:

It will be an evening of fine food and wine accompanied by the 2008 release of the God of Fire cigars -- very rare, aged vintage cigars blended by the two living legends of cigars, Carlos Fuente, Sr. and Carlito Fuente.

In 1993, I was attending a charity event in Chicago when the Emcee of the evening, Tom Dressen, asked me if I would like to play in a golf tournament next February in Palm Springs, California. I told him I had not played golf in over 25 years, but when he mentioned that it was the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational, and that Frank himself would be performing there, it took me little time to borrow clubs and shoes and tee up!
That started me off on almost 15 years of playing charity golf, with the Sinatra event being the premiere part of it. What has made that event most special is that it benefits a children’s center that is named after one of the most wonderful women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life.
Barbara Sinatra is that unique mixture of class, beauty, intellect and grace coupled with a most generous heart. The great legacy of Frank Sinatra is only made greater by the fact that she is who she is. I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with some noteworthy individuals being in the line of work I am in, but Barbara is in a class by herself.
Since I came to the golf tournament in Palm Springs 15 years ago to meet Sinatra the legend, I have found out that legends sometimes come as a pair. Barbara could live a very comfortable life without taking the time and effort to help the countless children that she does. She has chosen otherwise. I cherish my friendship with her, and am blessed to know her as I do. The world is a better place because Old Blue Eyes had a wife named Barbara.

The 2008 God of Fire Golf Tournament will be held at Lost Canyons Golf Club earlier in the morning of September 13, 2008. The tournament will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. During the tournament, lunch will be served. There is a shower facility in the club house of Lost Canyons Golf Club. It will take about 45 to drive to Hotel Bel-Air from Lost Canyons Golf Club. |
